I was looking for a blogging tool to

work from a USB storage device so it had to be portable

Sync with current Blogger platform

I searched through my Portable apps forum etc. to keep hearing about Qumana. So I went to their site and looked around for the "Portable USB" download button or instructions...I saw nothing then I went to the FAQ and #FAIL the page was missing...really?!?!

Then I noticed another tool that followed Qumana ...Zoundry. When I went to their site I saw information on a portable version called Raven2Go.

Awesome!

So I downloaded and connected it to my Blogger sites and *poof* I can write my blog articles anywhere anytime without an internet connection and when it is time to publish *POOF* I am there!

This looks like it is going to be a real cool tool, but dont they all till you get in and start using it ...

This Post is my first attempt at using this Zoundry Raven or Raven2Go application which is still in "BETA" so...

I will attempt Pictures images and other content in due time.

This installed easy enough and connected easy enough and is being used easy enough.

So far 3 thumbs up!

*Update: I just went back to Qumana to see if the FAQ/Support page was really gone and it is there now. Sad for them as I have moved on to Raven2Go for now.

Perhaps this is the year I get out and do a little Geo Caching and have fun outside. I Originally started out with Geocaching.com but have found this OpenCaching.com via my android apps market place. I like the application but it does not have all the caches listed yet...I will be trying out these apps with my Sprint Samsung Transform Android phone instead of a GPS device like when I started...should make for some fun this year as long as the bugs and heat are not too bad.
Looking forward to the apps and taking pictures etc. and just getting out.

Mobile blogging

I am testing out my blogger app running on my sprint samsung transform android phone. I am not sure I want to do a lot of typing with such a small keyboard, but the mobility and power are great to have. Thank you Google!
I am still having a little issue with android markets inability to download updates ... but that is the cloud. Can't wait for android 2.2

Netbeans 7 beta 2 better...

The latest beta of Netbeans 7 beta 2 is a huge step up from the beta 1 as it seemed to get hung up on me about every time I tried to use it. I have liked how it has made great strides to improve the CSS editor to almost as good as the Dreamweaver editor. I use it mostly for PHP coding and playing around with Concrete5 template ideas. I had been trying to use more HTML5 scripting and CSS3 and the 7b2 version takes huge steps in that direction. Now it still does not recognize text-shadow and background gradients but then again I am a little bleeding edge as I use Chrome 11 Dev version for most of my surfing. I have left Firefox except for its firebug...as far as Chrome extensions have come it is still Firefox that has a more complete set of tools that I use.
I have not been able to play with JavaFx or just plain Java in the new Netbeans IDE as I was a little worried with Sun converted into Oracle and Oracle dumping Ruby...I just get twitchy when projects get taken like that...normally does not end up good. As far as I am concerned the jury is still out on Oracle and Java.

I am so glad to see new development of the Wamp Server as that is the great platform I run on my Toshiba laptop for development of web applications and general testing of various CMS and php coded applications. I love how easy it is to tweak settings and simulate various environments with ease. I fire up my Wampserver and then my Netbeans IDE and I am off to the races...I do wish it would let me use Chrome as the local host browser but it keeps popping up my firefox. Granted I still have very good web designer plugins for firefox and usually the firebug on firefox is my most comprehensive testing tool...Chrome is making strides in that direction.
I am excited to learn more about AlterWay formation as time goes by and to see what else they will be doing. I have often tried to consider going to Xampp but after downloading and playing with Xampp I cannot abandon my Wampserver as it is much easier and to my mind more powerful than Xampp. I will say that I use a portable xampp on a USB for my portable solution and I wish I had a portable wampserver that I could take with me...hint hint.
Here is to a loong and fruitful relationship with Wamp server and the team at Alterway formations.

D5 Lost Island Template demo

This is my concrete5 template version of this WordPress theme Lost Island. I thought it was going to be easier but the theme is not as clean as it appears. but Concrete5 and my Boks blueprint visual grid editor with my Netbeans pallets sure makes getting these templates together and functioning easier.
I will be looking at making better menu visuals and I am toying with some blogger template criss crossing too. I actually enjoy taking a template and making it function in Concrete5, but it is even easier now with the new layout function which allows you to divide up your page into sections as your design needs change. This one feature can turn a single column page into having a sidebars or multiple columns.
As I go forward I will be offering some free templates and some "small potato" templates in the $1-$5 range. I hope to get some feedback and be able to offer better quality templates that address the needs that you the consumers require of Concrete5 templates.

Well I left Concrete5 because of bloat but it was actually my host NEXPOINT.NET that had some issue where I could not clear any cached pages or temporary directories. I switched to gpeasy a very good CMS that uses XML files instead of a db. It is very small and similar to Concrete5 but in the end it did not have near the feature set needed. However if you need a very easy yet very powerful small site CMS, I highly recommend gpEasy but if you need more than a small blog and simple file sharer then it is hard to beat Concrete5. Which is why I am back to using it and back in the Template ring again. I have played a little with the new feature to create split area's "LAYOUT" and I have a template that is simple and allows you to take advantage of the core features inherent in the Concrete5 CMS package.
I am still on NEXPOINT.NET hosting but with their 50MB limit for the $4.99/month package I am thinking of jumping to GODADDY.COM with their 10GB for the same $4.99...kind of a no brainer.

Finally I have played around and come up with this simple first template for my Domain [DameryWorld.com], it is like the Hello World example or Keep It Simple Stupid KISS where I create a very basic minimalistic default template with only the required minimal code. Then I add a little touch of testing of extra area's and flexibility for future tweaking.
I like gpEasy CMS for its no data base set up and its very light size, but also for its LIVE user editing ability. One of the functions I really liked about Concrete5 CMS was the LIVE editing of the content. However, the C5 or Concrete5 size grew too fast for my budget so I began looking for another CMS of equal ability but smaller in size. gpEasy is that CMS and I was surprised by the XML no db set up. Very nice!
I will be adding more templates to community, like a holiday Template.
I also will be looking at some add-ons or plugins to create...
all takes time. hope to hear from anyone who is interested in a quick easy site. I also want to work on a blogger template as I use blogger for my blogging needs.

Bah Humbug! I gave one of my kids the Coby Kyros MID 7015 Android tablet and after setting up the wifi and checking the applib we wrapped it up and then it was Christmas morning and my daughter could not get on the applib and we are hearing nothing from Coby but it appears the complaints are growing. I sure hope they get it fixed we are looking at taking it back...already.

What it has seems to work ok, but when my other kids with ipod 4's are downloading new and low priced apps we start to see why early adoption is not for the kids on Christmas.

She enjoys the facebook and youtube stuff but the games are where the kids are.

I am hoping to hear an update from Coby but till then we count down to the end of our return window.

UPDATE:! Just tried to call support and was forwarded to their phone message machine which is Maxed out! LOL, really Coby is this company in a garage somewhere? tick tock the return clock is looming bigger each second....tick, tock...

To gpEasy from Concrete5 losing weight without function.

Well I was not sure I would ever leave Concrete5 as it had developed into an easy to install and easy to use CMS, but as time went on my site grew in size and saw beginning to become a problem for me and my budget. In times like these, we need to cut back and I was back on the search for a CMS with power and ease and still had the great functionality I found in Concrete5. Mainly, the live view editing.
I began dipping in to the latest and greatest and almost was drawn into PluXML but my lack of French caused me issues. I was able to translate most of the cms but soon I was causing errors and that was it for me.
Then I ran into gpEasy and I thought lets see what this XML without DB site can do...

WOW

I was amazed at the ease, this was faster and easier than WordPress. After a little playing around I was sold and will soon try and add to the community with the standard themes and plugins sets. I will of course begin with my own site as it is a work in progress, but it is going quick with the gpEasy CMS. Now I have to peel off all my Concrete5 stickers on my laptop...you have been replaced. now I just see the logo as waving good bye!

Google finally has released its Chrome Os in a Beta laptop for a select group to get out and test. It appears they are sticking with the "Usual suspects" your average web loggers and editors and tech stuff, but in the off chance they send me one you will know here FIRST!

I will add more to my begging later ...wish I had a Nexus S for a more full Google apps integration on the go go!

I have read how many are already dogging on the OS and complaining about things it is NOT intended to do...like work perfectly. You have to expect the occasional hiccup and I see it like GMail...it just keeps getting better with time.

this was pretty cool. As Google always does it just pops up and works. I noticed the CALL button and the associated help or more information link (see above) so naturally I read that US and Canada calls were free so of course as a Google-attic I called up my Aunt in another state and I have to say on my end the call was clear as a bell and the sound was awesome. She said it was decent but sounded like I was on speaker phone which I was calling via wi-fi on my laptop. LOVE, the quality and ease of making calls and connecting. and it just made sense ...not the feeling I got with Google Wave. That always felt like I was trying to find a reason to use it ...Google Voice chat just came naturally. I see a birthday, why not hit dial and call them and quickly say Hi, Happy Birthday and I love you!....Just the sorts of things that text really doesn't pass the emotion regardless of :-) and <3 it is just not the same. Another new feature I see is that Blogger has a preview feature that allows you to see your page in FULL Template glory! So you can make sure it is going to work the way you want. Google if you ever need a beta tester for your soon coming Chrome OS Tablet then put my name to the top.

The latest Netbeans version is out in beta, this is a tool that I have been very happy with and is what I am using to delve into the world of JavaFX for my own next big thing.
It is a powerful platform and I use it to do PHP coding as well as any other web language coding. It is great for making templates in Concrete5 my current web content manager. I am looking to see what I am capable of with JavaFX which will help me make the change to Desktop/Web/Mobile applications.
The new Netbeans is pushing the JavaFX ...uh...language, script to the next level. That is if Oracle doesn't screw things up in the quest for all mighty dollar.
I have only had a few crossings with Oracle apps and I have to say either they are very unstable or the admin of the apps I used was unstable...my experience is "How did Oracle get so powerful with this crap?"
Java is an Ocean of ability and I am just dripping with experience!

Wow Blogger is taking a huge step in the right direction with template designer. a Very Awesome idea and a very welcome update! Google has seemed to neglect the blogger community as the WordPress and other communities have made lots of noise about their improvements.
I know for me this is an awesome update and I am excited to play with it and see what I can come up with.

My domain hosts a Concrete5 CMS that does not natively come with a blogging type tool and blogger was easy enough to template in with my theme and now I am happy to say it might be even easier. (once I can add my own images etc. background)
Google's Blogger will continue to be a powerful force in the blogging community!

Might I also say that Zemanta has been a great help also in my blogging of late.

After struggling with a good simple template design, I decided to go with a conversion of a very popular WordPress Theme the Kubrick by Binary Bonsai, as he explains it:

I was very excited to hear about Google getting Picnic and I am even more anxious about how it will integrate with Blogger and Picasa and the rest of the Googleverse!

I also love that the CMS concrete5 has this tool integrated into the product. I am hoping to be able to use this and various other Google and concrete5 integrations.

I also hope that there will be some mobile integration too and that someday I will have access to a Google Phone ala the Nexus One or Two or Three and will be a true mobile blogger hmmm will that make me a Moblogger?

Worlds Template for Concrete5

Finally I have a template built from a variation of a blogger theme on the Pyzam site called sci-fi. I feel pretty good about this template but it will surely change or become more modified in the near future. Till then I really like it.
I am still coding with the new netbeans 6.8 and with using Chrome browser more and more I am moving from fireftp to Filezilla since the Chrome browser does not yet have an ftp extension that I know of...
I have created some images using the 64bit version of paint.net when aviary.com and picnic.com failed me, but not to worry I am still stoked about picnic.com integration in Concrete5 CMS. I am adding more Google flavor to my site but I still have not fully embrassed the Google Apps as a site design.
I hope to begin offering some premium (whatever that mean$) templates for Concrete5 and if you need some work DONE please contact me.

I have created a Concrete5 template for a friend of mine who I had created a WordPress themed site. But as most people know, WordPress does not lend itself to being a real CMS. However I have redone his site in Concrete5 and I believe it is going to be a much better site for photography than a Blog tool forked with "widgets" to try and make it look like a CMS.

The template is a solid black color so it draws your attention to the images on the site. It is a full page site with just the header navigation and no sidebar, but it does have a footer that can lend itself to content as the content manager chooses.

It is a simple site for framing images and managing minimal textual content.

So I add another template to the Damery World! Enjoy!

This is very nice and as the name says it is Charity themed theme....is that too many words that are the same same...ok

This is a nice idea and is more of the popular style that I like to call framed theme or template. The content is wrapped in a little picture pieces frame.

It is simple like a WordPress design but with concrete5 it can become a real CMS with the right mix of blocks ... very cool.

I am seeing that most people prefer this style so I will see what my hands can do in that design arena.

It will not happen tonight or tomorrow as I will be watching LOST and having my brain wrinkled.

Another quick web design turned concrete5 template by me. This is one of those easy to convert but low on flexibility. If you are looking for a Concrete5 template like this you can have this one for free as many of these are.

This particular design has the one page type and is missing completely the Header Navigation area of default areas. So, you have to plan with minimal in mind.

The Concrete5 template system is fairly simple and I am quite confident in its ability. WordPress also can be quite easy but I have found that the backward compatibility and various plugins often run into each other...be safe and build on Concrete!

Here is an example of a quick template mark up! I was able to go to FreeCssTemplates.org grab a descent theme and template it for concrete5 with in 30 minutes and have it up on the web.

If you find a theme you want templated for concrete5 let me know and I can turn it around for you anywhere from $50 on up to how custom and complicated you want it...

It has been said many times, with enough time and money I can do most anything!

I have finished a quick attempt at a Cement themed template for the Concrete5 CMS. The great thing about the Concrete5, it is so flexible and allows you to modify the content with a WYSIWYG interface and you can build flexible templates to wrap that content. It is also easy to add new areas of content as your web site might require.

I have been able to quickly hack existing templates into a concrete5 capable form, but I don't like all the cleanup that is required to have a real quality product.

I am only working on this in the "moonlight" so I don't have lots of time to play as I wish I could. I do plan on releasing more (as you can tell) completely original templates of better quality to match the awesome power of the Concrete5 CMS platform.

Don't be fooled into thinking that WordPress is a CMS. It is a blog platform that can be hacked to function as a CMS, although every instance I have encountered has been lacking or I would have stayed with it.

I hope to find more time to create some Blocks and more templates, but as it is written "one day at a time."! When I get my Concrete5 template to a point that I like then I will skin my blogger site which is very similar in function but more of a "blogger" platform so there is more continuity.

Well with much anticipation as a Google-aholic I awaited this great break out phone from Google phone and really it is just another android phone with minimal memory (4Gig..really?) and Google Earth...oh and lest I forget the iris photo gallery effect..how did I live with out that.
Yeah, I am a little let down. I expected a Super fast phone with some cool Google app integration all I got was Google earth in a 3D ish format ...NOT Avatar quality either...
Yeah I am probably just crabby because I am in a deep freeze weather wise but I hope that Google can team with HTC to come up with a sub $200 tablet loaded with Chrome OS and tuned for Google apps ... PLEASE.

Whats missing from Google Chrome Extensions

I have been loving and exercising my Chrome extendability with the official Google Chrome Extensions and now that I think I have what I need I know what is missing...for me.

I need an FTP extension like FIRE FTP in the so quickly deserted Firefox browser. I have Firebug, although I have yet to really try it out.

As a off and on Theme customizer I need to be able to FTP and test my hacks from server to server. I have been really liking the speed of chrome the most and the ability to KILL a thread that is hanging up and that includes the extensions too...AWESOME. Cant wait till Chrome OS comes out and it will be similar to the powerful and very underrated System i by IBM where the applications are separated from the OS and hardware are all separated so a program can crap out and everything else will just keep on grooving along.

Since I am on the subject of Chrome extensions I will just put out my list as see what you all may think.

Google Chrome Extensions: Blog This! (by Google)

As C3PO would say, "Thank the maker!" this has been a long waited for day and it came with great joy and excitement. As, Google finally extends its chrome for all to shape into the web tool they desire. Unlike my firefox it is not, I repeat NOT, bogging down..at least not right away and it seems to be keeping pretty zippy.

I also love that I can use Zemanta to write blogs etc. so time will be the test and if Android can allow usage of these great tools or a new Google device (the infamous GPhone, although I think it will be an android/chrome os tablet[look out apple]).

This is a great day and I am glad I have time to surf this wave...again I smile as I think Google thoughts.

WordPress vs Concrete5 who is CMS/WCMS?

Just listening to Matt Mullenweg talk about the State of the Word going on about b2 and how he tweaked/patched b2 and was that is what hooked him to coding. WordPress is an attempt to Mash Text pattern, blogger, moveable type , and b2. The wild frontier of the web is similar to the frontier of America, people are working hard to stake claims to intellectual grounds and using communities to out develope their competition and to build resources to help them get out salvo's of information and content.
So WordPress is a great blog platform and is heading to the great web 3.0 on/off line paradigm using Google gears etc. but is it really a Content Management System? If your content is Blog data and maybe some images, video's but anything outside of blogs and pages take some work to get managed. I am pretty sure there is more content on the web than just blogs and pages...

P2 is to twitterize (content NOW) WordPress comments. "Twitter is a Phase for speed, not really content advancement but it gets information out faster."

BuddyPress is a community version for a more social WordPress. Power to the People!

Plugins for better management, again this helps tweak the Blog and Page content...although they can help with images and video too.

but after downloading I still have issues with plugin's and getting a proper image gallery among other content. If you just want a Great blog tool then it is PERFECT, but if you have documents or other content you want to manage then it is not so perfect.

Concrete5 is closer to a Content Management System, it is very easy and intuitive to create html pages and add content and even various image gallery's also easy to manage documents etc. however it does not currently have a blogging BLOCK. Which is not major as it can be wrapped around a C5 iframe BLOCK or linked too.

It still seems to me we should already have a Web Content Management System created. We have some many almost managers. I currently have a liking for Concrete5 as it is really close.

Perhaps it is a paradigm issue and people cant seem to break from what they are using currently. I would love to see a "System" that allows you to manage Web Objects:

xhtml-editable yet static documents
widgets/gadgets - xhtml code that fits within an xhtml document and pulls data from other sources.
images- local/hosted
music- mp3's or other
video- mpg, mov or other
documents- pdf, doc, odt etc.
feeds- whether rss or atom or whatever (even twitter is a NOW feed of status)
links- URI to other web content.

You should be able to manage users authority as well as content.
you should be able to set defaults as well as preferences.

then there should be applications to apply to the Web Object Content:

slideshow- but not just for images it should be open to switch through any content in a slideshow way.
blog- should show any content in a chronological order(all content will have a timestamp) text, images, video

It is so easy to wake up and dream these things but clearly it is another to bring those dreams to life and see if anyone finds value in what you think is soooo important. Reminds me of the "Next Big Thing" mentality with people pouring their lives into devices and bring them to a VC to find its been done and done better or worse yet NO ONE will buy it.

Please leave comments on what think. Is it time for a web application that can manage the various web objects we all deal with everyday in an Object managed mentality? Am I missing the boat?

Rant-ing about Sprint text phone

My SPRINT contract was coming to an end and I really wanted to get a Palm Pre. However after hearing about the iPhone issues and the now developing list of issues with the Palm Pre, I decided to skip the drama and save my money for a phone with a few features and less headaches.
I opted for the Samsung RANT M540 for SPRINT mostly because it was FREE and I needed 5 free family plan phones.
Now we did not all get RANTS, just three of us and the others are dealing with the jealousy...
I can now text (same as before with my SANYO SCP-3200) but now I can send images and video over Sprints unlimited text/NOT Data plan.
I have had good success sending images and occasional videos with the phone and service. The slideout QWERTY keyboard is nice but will take time to get use to.
It does have a micro SD card hidden under the battery, but no problem with mini USB connector as it can connect to PC(while disconnecting from phone service) and then its just a matter of drag n drop and memory available. then after music is loaded disconnect and bring up media player and jam out speaker is very loud and speaker phone works well too also had my 12 year old show me how to do 3-way calls.....yeah I am ancient.

I love to surf and learn and read and debate, so the internet is a non-stop fun ride for me but you often will find that you want to share things with people who may not have all the "Social" tentacles that you do. So you have to find portals of grouped social interaction or apps that have most of your friends...well the NEW Yoono 6.0 allows you the ability to keep up to the post(minute or less) with your friends on all their various services. Yoono currently covers these:

Facebook
MySpace (still buggy though because of MySpace and their tripped out API)
Imeem
Twitter
Flikr
FriendFeed
Aim (ugh!)
GoogleTalk (no video yet)
WindowsLive
YahooMessenger

with the standard ... more coming soon.
This ability to communicate through these various services all in one location (The Yoono 2 size Sidebar) is one of the greatest parts to this application(Firefox plugin) where before I had to twitter in one app, IM in another app and read my feeds via various web readers. Now I can do it all in one Sidebar app with Yoono!
Now this power not only helps but it hurts as now I am able to ingest and share even more information...It is like driving a sports car really fast then finding you have more gears to make it go even faster....YIKES! And if you find your self so engrossed with information you fear you will miss something Yoono allows pop ups with a variety of sounds to alert you that you are not alone on this World Wide Web. Boing! a twitter of the Palm Pre hitting the streets, then ring ring a friend is chatting with you about going out to see if there are anymore Palm Pre's available then you begin reading feeds and links about this and that ...yeah you know what I mean. Most of this has been available in previous versions of Yoono but 2 NEW features have become my favorites.

As you can guess, the SHARE button allows you to share pages or (my favorite) Parts of pages with FACEBOOK, FREINDFEED or TWITTER via a link to your YOONO hosting of the content. Awesome! no more trying to describe a page or part of a page/video...just Share it with your friends.

Okay, I should'nt try and make up words ...

The other feature is the discovery tool that will search the page you are on and find text that can be linked to other content discovered else where...yes more awesomy..er! So as I am reading about the middle east I can see text underlined with dots that lets me know to hover over it till I get my little magnifying glass and then click that to see content related to text from:

Related web sites
Wikipedia
Video services
shopping products
Photo services
Google search

and then ...yeah... you can share those new nuggets of web information/videos/etc. via the SHARE buttons.

flash back to 1984 "TOTALLY AWESOME DUDE!"

Now Yoono is not just about these awesome features that have been improved over the past few months, but also it has email convergence...NOT quite WebOs but it is still all in the Yoono sidebar area and you are notified of updates in service statuses via various ways even counters (still getting de-wrinkled).
There is also the feed reader not great when you have hundreds of articles to comb through (shame on me) because of the small sidebar size, but it can easily open a new tab with your feed service (Google Reader) etc. for better viewing pleasure.
The shopping tool shows shopping as well as auctions for items you are looking for (Palm Pre) and ...yeah..allows you to share those on the three main sharing services. Facebook/Twitter/Friendfeed

The music tool currently only has Imeem/Last.Fm I had mentioned a longing for Pandora...(please oh please)

I cant complain too much since my big issue was that I couldn't retweet from Yoono but that has been fixed and the sharing added so I can play with those while waiting for further developments.

Probably the last and unfortunately least liked of the tools is the web notes...
kind of a place to collect or grab content for later reference or sharing, I really wanted to use it for creating blog posts but it is not very helpful and therefor not useful ..as I use it.

Now a dream merger would be Yoono integrate with ScribeFire and Zemanta. So that as I am surfing/sharing with my friends I can create a blog post with drag n drop content and compose it with ScribeFire (as I am doing with this exact POST) then helped with external Zemanta supporting content and links. ScribeFire allows me to post to various BLOG platforms aka WordPress, Blogger etc.
As it is I am composing most of this with ScribeFire then will send it to my Blogger account as a draft where I will open it up and see what content Zemanta offers as I edit the post for final publishing later today.

*Update about ScribeFire; It already has integration with Zemanta although appearingly limited. So all we need is to replace/enhance web notes in Yoono with ScribeFire tool... ;-)

If I had all this wrapped in Yoono...Oh Joy!

It has been a week and the glow from the SuperNova known as BigOmaha is still shinning throughout the blog-o-sphere. So many social media forces coming together in the Heart of America to revive our country with the innovation and excitement that this adventurous country was built on. I heard a whole new level of connection that has been missing in business today and is evident in the current government and business disconnect, called bueracracy.
Now it will be time that will test the determination of the great minds of Omaha and we shall see if a new Oracle of Openness emerges with freedom and liberty for all....or some such thing.

Concrete5 Templates a DameryWorld CementMix

I finally have a complete Concrete5 C5 Template or Theme. I had been playing around the default theme that comes with Concrete5 C5 and re-created it using BluePrint Css Frame work and also using the YUI-Grid framework. I found a visual css editor based on blueprint called Boks (don't ask) It is an Adobe AIR application that is Super fast at getting the page areas layed out. I then tweak it out with Netbeans 6.5 PHP module and CSS editor for tuning things up and it allows me to store php template snippets that I reuse like header and footer and default.
It was very easy to create various Page types but trying to stay standard I only varied with a three column page type that allowed a more magazine layout with 3 even columns, but anything is possible and I also created the recomended view page type that is supposed to allow a more dynamic page view. I will find out more in my continued testing. I also added a little customization to my cementmix template as that is an awesome feature that allows a multitude of color and font combinations.
I thought, what template looks more solid than a Concrete5 site on cementmix? Ok, so it is not shiny rounded or a cookie cutter of almost every other template out there but it functions great and gives me whatever I need.

This is my second run around with Concrete5. I had orignally picked it up a couple months ago and it was still very rough around the edges. So bad that I was unable to easily install it on my local server and in the forums butted heads looking for answers. I recently ran into their online demos and tried it again and decided they had made some good advances and may be ready for another go around.
My first and most critical test for any piece of software is INSTALLATION! It has got to install with minimal issues. This is the greatest reason for WordPress being so popular, it is very easy and fast to install.
I was pleased to see the great advances in the install department although there are still a few required settings that need to be warned about, I was able to install locally and begin playing around with the ... bits n pieces.
I have heard a few people complaining about C5 (short for Concrete5) not having a Block (code module application) for blogging. HELLO! Its a CMS Content Managment System not a blogging platform. WordPress has really wrecked many folks by having an awesome blogging application that they keep trying to shoehorn it into a CMS. C5 is a CMS, WordPress is a blogging application as is BLOGGER. I can see C5 getting a blogging Block soon...(paying me will make it happen sooner)... I stumbled into Boks an adobe AIR visual Grid editor based on blueprint and whipped together a few rough template/themes and I have created a default type style using Boks and I am currently using it for my website.
A Note on template/themes, although the default C5 themes that come with it are in the same hacked header.php page.php footer.php broken up modular arrangement that does not have to be the way you do yours. This is a powerful CMS in much the same way Modx is and it has a better implementation of the LIVE editing feature I loved about Modx Cms. Now, Modx does have more flexibility in the old done version, but it is currently in the last stretch of a total rewrite ...awaiting to see what they can come up with.
Remember this concrete is still wet so give it time to cure. They have a great idea for a Market place with integrated installation of template/themes etc.( WordPress is working towards this) and it is still having issues as of this writing. Case: I finally got my C5 mixed and poured (a.k.a. installed and running) and then took a turn at the Market place and ran into signon issues as well as it did not install free themes I chose...not sure what's up there but it is still in the cure process so go out for another cup o' joe and come back later to see if the C5 is setting and solid...I am becoming a believer! Hear me Concrete5 dont let me down.

Disclaimer: although I am singing high praises I am not yet ready to build a site with it 'cept my own. Need to make sure I am not going to run into those Horrid Security issues I had with Modx Grrrr.

Finally the Concrete5 Site is up and running. I ran into a little trouble with my Apache settings but it is up and in the wild. I will, as you can probably guess, be using blogger as the tool by which I will blog through my Concrete5 or C5 CMS and I have a Theme I have been playing with for a while and will probably be making changes as is common with new sites. I hope to have some good content coming this year and I will be porting a Market of my own where you can get whatever theme/templates or Blocks I will be coming up with in the near future...Look out C5 lets make this a solid foundation for web 3.0 is coming...
